The Downside of Being an Outsider

Outsider Dr. Ben Carson has learned the hard way that being “plain-spoken” quickly leads to fumbling the predictable ‘gotcha’ questions.  Case in point: Chuck Todd on Meet the Press asked him if he thought a Muslim should be President. There are a number of great responses to this:

  1. Sure, I would support a Republican Muslim, but probably not a Democrat Muslim.
  2. The constitution prohibits a religious “litmus test” for President, you should know that, Chuck.
  3. If someone who believes that Sharia Law should override the U.S. constitution can get themselves 271 electoral votes in a presidential election, who am I to oppose the will of the people?

The good news is that Dr. Carson’s demise will mean more support for the eventual nominee, Senator Rubio.
