The Trump-Fox feud is back in full force this week. After Trump decided to retweet a rather mean comment about Fox star Megyn Kelly, Ailes issued a statement condemning the comment and asking for an apology.
The tweet in question
Gabriel Sherman at New York Magazine has a story on the feud, but included at the end is a key paragraph that deserves highlighting.
“It’s now harder to see an end to the Trump-Fox war soon. As I reported this week, Trump’s poll numbers remain strong and he’s building a robust campaign operation, which is a threat to Ailes’s political project: “Roger says Trump is unelectable. His goal here is to save the country,” a source close to Ailes told me.”
A source is telling Sherman that Roger Ailes wants Trump out. That means this is only the beginning of the fight. So sit back, get some popcorn, and enjoy the show!
But in all seriousness, it will be interesting to see just how much sway Fox News truly has over the Republican Party. The left has been saying for years it holds great influence, so we will see if that’s grounded in reality.
